Could someone suggest how to correct copper deficiency? Is there any cure for this?

Hi teengraygal :
First, you should check your mineral levels.  It is relatively cheap and well worth the price.  Then if you are low in copper, you can buy copper pills cheap. If you take copper, you should probably take zinc too.
Here are some interesting links for you;

Yes, I am taking 150mg of zinc per day (when I remember to). Not a typo. And it sometimes makes me nauseous.

I think 150 mg zinc a day is way too much and can be very toxic. Probably better taking 15 mg a day zinc and 2 g a day pumpkin seed oil.

JustBrowsing- I didn't know about the Vitamin D link, but there is also one to Vitamin B (3 and others) if you do a search.

Review of re:nual serum:

http://www.greyhairloss.com/blog/home.html

Since the re:nual trialists here have not updated their progress, I take it the stuff doesn't work.

Wonder if anyone has tried sansho pepper, as mentioned in the re:nual review?

I've been using the Joico Re:nual serum for about 4 months (since June 1, 2008). I can definitively say that I'm seeing a reduction in white hairs. jumpin   Rather than applying the serum to my scalp morning and night as recommended on the bottle, I only massage it into my scalp in the evenings. It's only been the last month that I've noticed that the white hairs didn't seem to be so noticeable. I hope the results continue!

Gaizz, I didn't see any improvements at all until the last 3 weeks or so and I've been applying the serum for 4 months. When I first started applying it, I would have some tingling..nothing unpleasant, but a definite sensation. After a week or so I didn't experience any kind of tingling, but earlier this week I applied the serum on my scalp right after shampooing and showering and I definitely had the tingling on my scalp. I know the directions state to apply on a dry scalp, but I wonder if the tingling indicates the serum is actually penetrating better than on a dry scalp.

Any thoughts on this?

I apply the serum always on a dry scalp... I haven't any kind of tingling. I apply the serum as recommended on the bottle, morning and evening, everyday...

JenJ, you had growth of new pigment hairs, or think you have had a reversal of whites?

PS: sorry for my bad english..

I've been using the Re:nual serum for just over 2 months. Have not noticed any changes.

JenJ, I have always gotten a tingling sensation when I apply the serum. I think it is one of the ingredients evaporating on the scalp and causing a cooling sensation.

I did go through a phase last year where I was getting some grey hairs growing with a black base...definite repigmentation. I think it was the blackstrap molasses causing it, because I have not had any since I stopped taking the molasses. I'm going to try it again and see if I start getting some repigmented hairs occuring again.

Gaizz, I believe that I'm seeing a reversal versus new hairs. I do color my hair and since it grows quickly, I do root touch ups often...like every two weeks. When I did my last touchup (last Sunday), I actually could've waited another week, I believe, since the whites weren't as obvious as they've been in the past. That's the guide I go by. I'll continue to post updates every 4 weeks or so.

I did email Joico earlier this week to inquire about applying the serum to wet scalp versus dry scalp since I do feel a noticeable difference. I also asked if they have seen full color restoration with this serum and if they have updated pics to post on their site. I hope to receive a response and when post when I do.

Aussie David, I had been taking molasses for about four months then stopped as I saw no results. I then began the nail rubbing method (recommended by Swami Ramdev) and after about four or five months found at least 30 hairs with a black root, but no more since. So now I'm wondering if its possible the molasses could have had a delayed effect or if the nail rubbing just had a limited effect or I don't know what. How long were you taking the molasses before you saw some repigemnted hair?

Hi DJ Stately,

I don't know how long I was taking the molasses before I saw some reversal. At the time I was taking so many things that I wasn't sure what was causing the reversal. I stopped taking the molasses months ago because the shop where I was getting it from temporarily stopped stocking it. I saw no reversal in that time, so that was what made me think the molasses was working.

I'm back on the molasses again, so I'll wait a couple of months and see if I find any more hairs that are repigmenting. I do think that any method you try will take several months to have any effect, so you have to be persistent. It's kinda like treating hair loss....they say to wait at least 6 months before determing if any treatment is working for you.

At the moment the only specific things I am doing to try to reverse my grey hair are taking the molasses and using the re:nu serum. I am on a fairly hefty vitamin regime also, but that's not for grey hair, but rather general health.

The bottom line for me is that I've tried heaps of things suggested on this website, but I continue to go grey. The only shining light were the hairs I found last year that were grey, but black at the base and grew out black. At the same time though, I continued to get new grey hairs. It's frustrating really, but I'm going to continue with the molasses and the re:nu serum and post my results here.

I had bookmarked the attached link several months ago and just found it again. It's a newsletter that was written in 2000.  If you scroll about half way down the page, look for "Back in Black".  Several paragraphs mention Shiseido's discovery on how to reactivate melanocytes and that the scientist envisions a lotion that would permeate the scalp.

http://www.essentiallyoils.com/Newsletters/2000/March_2000_Newsletter/march_2000_newsletter.html

Hence the birth of the Re:nual serum!

I'v been following this thread with interest for a while now, i think it was in the earlier part of this thread i saw Edgar Cayce's name mentioned or it was a link from this site to another that i saw Edgar Cayce mentioned, anyway, so without knowing anything about him i did a google search for Edgar Cayce and grey hair, i came across someone who formulates a product for grey hair from one of Edgar Cayce's readings, formular 636-1. It's called Samson's hair and it's available from www.apothecaryco.com

I'm only on my second bottle so can't say if it works just yet but the link is there for anyone that wants to give it a try.

Hi Mee,

Thanks for the link! I hope you keep us all posted on your results with this product...like maybe a monthly check-in? I'm trying to do that with the Re:nual serum.

Take care and good luck!

Thanks to all of you for your updates.

JenJ - I'm glad to hear that you're having success.  I just purchased my re:nual serum today.  I'm guessing that the directions to apply to a dry scalp are probably to avoid a dilution of the serum.  Not that everyone would apply it to a soaking head of hair, but it's probably smarter to direct people to apply to a dry scalp instead.  Of course this all assumption on my part.

I'll keep everyone posted as well.

I'm at my three month mark with the Joico Re:nual Serum. NO change in my hairs... I'm going to give it a go for 8 months/1 year and see what happens.

I am a 5 3yo male. about 5 years ago I started taking arginine pyroglutamate (3 capsules before bed) and have continued doing so every day since. I did so because I was looking for a natural way of encouraging my body to produce more HGH. I have no idea if that occured, but there were two things that have happened since I started. Relevant to this thread, my gray hair has actually reversed itself. I only had a few strands of gray on my head when I started and those have disappeared. More significantly (although I really could care less), my lower chin was about 50% gray and now that is closer to 20%. The other thing this supplement did for me was dramatically increase the moisture level of my skin. When I started, I had to wear a glove with lotion in the fingers in the winter to keep my fingers from cracking and bleeding. Not any more. I also don't get dry, scaly skin on my face in the winter any longer (live on Long Island, NY) and can usually make it through the night without getting up to use the bathroom.

Cabledon-

Very interesting post.  How long were you taking that before you noticed the reversal of your gray hair?  Is the reversal dramatic enough that others commented on the change to you?

thx
