It has been my understanding that oral glutathione supplementation is not effective in raising glutathione levels. There have been some clinical studies demonstrating that inhaled glutathione may be be beneficial in some lung diseases.

However, I could not find any clinical studies that confirm taking Setria® glutathione has any benefit. We would have to see larger clinical studies on a significant number of healthy and glutathione impaired individuals before oral glutathione could be considered effective.

L-cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine, form the chemical structures for the body to produce it's own glutathione. They can be found abundant in many foods including LEF whey protein.

Interesting, thank you for pointing it out. For sometime I have been looking for a similar "greens" product to add to my supplementation list.

But how to choose?  The list of possible products is so vast!

Take for example Genuine Health's Greens+

http://www.nationalnutrition.ca/detail.aspx?ID=858 (and list of components therein)

There is also good research on it:

http://www.genuinehealth.com/skin/frontend/default/genhealth/pdf/gh_research_sept08_en.pdf

and Alan C. Logan's book The Brain Diet  makes a good case of it in particular for brain protection. However, please note Logan is the R&D coordinator at Genuine Health.

Hard to choose!

Anyway I think this new LEF product could be a good start.

about greens it's so interesting these statements from New Chapter brand because most "greens" products come with grasses inside (included new LEF product):

No Grass Fillers
Most other “greens” supplements use grass as a nutrient. That’s fine for cows, we suppose, but not for humans. We never use grass as a nutrient or “filler” and we never will. We prefer organic greens and veggies and we think your body will, too.

SpainEurope,

That is only one company opinion. Just keep in mind that a company has to find a unique selling proposition -- something to differentiate them from the crowd. Personally I believe that certain cereal grass juices are beneficial.

Yes, Tom. For example New Chapter has a statement ridiculous about its not distilled fish oil, they say it's better because its more yellow (because it has astaxanthin), but it is so stupid. EPA DHA concentrated like LE Super Omega-3 are clearly much better.

I think its a good post for talking about in general new LEF products everytime.

LEF Dual Action Cruciferous has been reformulated to:

LEF Triple Action Cruciferous with and without resveratrol
http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Item01468/Triple-Action-Cruciferous-Vegetable-Extract.html

http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/Item01469/Triple-Action-Cruciferous-Vegetable-Extract-with-Resveratrol.html

The difference in formula is added..:
Apigenin [from water extraction of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) (peel)] AND
cabbage (Brassica oleracea) extract (leaf).

I always wondered what the result would be when vegetables are processed into powders. Are we really getting the full benefits from powdered vegetable supplements? I came across this study.

Effects of processing conditions on glucosinolates in cruciferous vegetables

LINK

"processing of brassica vegetables influences glucosinolate degradation and therefore the biological activity."

If you're going to take Triple Action Cruciferous Vegetable Extract you might want to evaluate your iodine intake and supplement with iodine if needed. The consumption of crucifiers contain goitrogen substances that decrease iodine and may damage the thyroid gland when consumed in large amounts as in a concentrated supplement form.

IMHO, LEF might want to consider adding iodine to the mix.

I wrote about it in an earlier post found HERE

IODINE FACTS

"Iodine deficiency is considered to be one of the most common nutrition disorders in the world and the world's greatest single cause of preventable brain damage." — PMID: 19503752

"Iodine deficiency remains the most frequent cause worldwide, after starvation, of preventable mental retardation in children." — PMID: 17962037

"Nowadays about 800 million people are affected by iodine deficiency disorders that include goiter, hypothyroidism, mental retardation, and a wide spectrum of other growth and developmental abnormalities." — PMID: 19594417

"Iodine deficiency has multiple adverse effects in humans, termed iodine deficiency disorders, due to inadequate thyroid hormone production. Globally, it is estimated that 2 billion individuals have an insufficient iodine intake, and South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa are particularly affected. However, about 50% of Europe remains mildly iodine deficient, and iodine intakes in other industrialized countries, including the United States and Australia, have fallen in recent years." — PMID: 19460960

"Iodine supplementation improved perceptual reasoning in mildly iodine-deficient children and suggests that mild iodine deficiency could prevent children from attaining their full intellectual potential." — PMID: 19726593
