Im not old by a long shot - 30 - but my point is related to peanut butter: in the book Formula for Life by Drs. Phyllis and Eberhard Kronhausen it is said that peanuts inevitably contain aflatoxins left by molds.
::The amount and its effect are more important than the fact of its existence on peanuts, since mold produced aflatoxin is also on many nuts and grains. Researcher Bruce Ames has shown that the mutagenic effects of aflatoxin within peanut butter in general (ie not counting highly contaminated batches) is not essentially more than from many other things that we eat daily and that it is within that dosage range that the body regularly deals with effectively.::
