and many other viral diseases. This website was brought to my attention by : papawheely, a registered forum member of this forum. Thank you pappawheely and here is that web address: http://www.advance-health.com/bht.html . BHT stands for the compound commonly known as: butylated hydroxytoluene. To the best of my knowledge it`s use as an anti-viral was first written about by the following scientists : W.Snipes, S.Person, A.Keith, and J.Cupp . The article is titled: Butylated Hydroxytoluene Inactivates Lipid-Containing Viruses. This was published in the journal: SCIENCE 188: 64-66 in 1975. These same scientists published other articles sometimes with others in SCIENCE and other publishers over time. A discovery of this magnitude deserves recognition. In my opinion this discovery  rates as one of the most important medical discoveries ever. I hope some day they get the recognition they deserve. A Nobel Prize is certainly in order in my opinion. I think you have to still be alive to recieve the Nobel Prize so I hope the scientific community gets around to giving thier work the attention it deserves. That website I gave a link to is called: Advanced Health and Life Extension and they provide a link to a picture of a model of a BHT molecule along with a lot of other helpful information. I have been taking BHT now for about 10 years to treat a hepatitis-C infection. I have been taking 250 mg to 300 mg per day on an empty stomach. I now test negative using the Hep-C RNA test. Also, it makes sense to me that if BHT can treat many viral infections it can also prevent an infection from establishing itself. So I also take it to protect myself from a broad spectrum of viral diseases. I do not know with any certainty that it helps in that regard, but it makes sense to me that it would. If I am right about that BHT could go a long way toward eliminating these dreaded diseases from the human population. The implications for this inexpensive compound are enormous and cannot be over stated in my opinion. Some people do experience adverse reactions to BHT so it makes good sense to try very small doses to self test with a small amount. I would say just open up a capsule, pour the BHT crystals onto a plate, lick the tip of your finger and dab it on the BHT, lick the crystals off and see if you have any adverse reaction. Most people seem to have no problem using sensible doses. People my age grew up injesting BHT in many of the food products we ate. It is still used as a food preservative to this day. Well I have had my say here in this forum about BHT for now. What do you think about all this ?
Direct link to a picture of a model of a BHT molecule is at: http://www.datasync.com/~rsf1/bht.htm .   ...Oscar

The story behind the discovery of penicillin is in some ways very simular to that of BHT's antiviral properties. In 1928 one Alexander Fleming was about to clean some petri dishes he had left about when he NOTICED SOMETHING. To read about this you can go here: http://www.chemsoc.org/timeline/pages/1928.html . Here we have a scientist paying attention to unexpected phenomonen in a petri dish. A simular event drew the scientists I named earlier regarding BHT and petri dishes. This is science at its best: paying attention to what actually occurs instead of ignoring it and looking for hoped for results. Whatever, I do wish to generate some interest in this thread. Mr. Fleming did eventaully share his NOBEL PRIZE for this momentous discovery in 1945. It can be argued that it was the onset of WWII that put the necessary resorces behind his discovery and that it may have otherwise fallen to the wayside. With the viral epidemics raging through the human population already the motivation should be there to pursue such promising leads as the investigation of BHT as an antiviral already exist. I believe BHT will prove to be for viral diseases what penicillin was and is for bacterial infections. ...Oscar

Hi, my 1st post.

Oscar, I've become curious about BHT, having stumbled across it on the web. If you don't mind, could you share your history of HepC? Like when you got it, was it chronic? Also when did you starting taking BHT & when you tested negative? Also, how much do you weigh (for dosage purposes)? I'm curious about taking some BHT for my HepB, but I'm afraid of the liver toxicology reports. I've heard to avoid certain vitamins & minerals, due to their toxic affects on the liver. Any advice much appreciated.

also, where do you get your BHT?

I'm sitting in for Oscar...just teasing. I have written about using BHT myself, beginning a month ago. Much has been said and covered on the subject (here at Life Extension & the Delano Report) mostly positive. As for me, I had a persistant infection go away where it came back after using a combo of two powerful medications; this just happen to come as a surprise.

I've had Hep C for just about 27 years due to a double blood transfusion. Like I mentioned on another post, I've had to change many habits like my two cups of wine in the evening or the protein/carbs ect. On the one hand, I don't have cirrhosis (only a couple hemangiomas and a granuloma) neither have my liver enzymes very high. On the other hand, my body is descriptive of late stage hep c...with no jandice or edema really...but I've found a way to deal with much of the stomach problems I incurred. At any rate, what are you to do besides change your habits? Milk thistle sure the hell isn't going to rid you of the virus. From what I can tell, interferon and that sounds like chemo? So, this just comes down to what I think is a choice and this appears to be much better. I still don't feel great and you might say I feel ___...(a different kind of ____) from the BHT...but hey, the inside of my body is a war zone...most likely it will be so until this thing is really defeated.
